Captain America VII (Bucky) meets US Agent (aka Captain America V).

I do believe Bucky is Cap VI, unless we’re counting Clint Barton’s one night stint as Cap, or I’m forgetting about someone else

Evil Bald Dude: I’ll be the first to admit that my past endorsement of Norman Osborn was… foolhardy, Captain America. I didn’t have all the facts. But you should consider that perhaps the same is true for the Black Widow. She used to be an enemy of the state. Your enemy. And you really think she just… turned good? Noble? She’s a former Russian spy. The very best that program ever produced. My experts call her the most dangerous woman in the world. The Black Widow, running circles around men and woman who possess ten times her strength. She led the Avengers, for God’s sake— without super-powers.
Bucky: Your pitch needs work. As far as I’m concerned, these are all positives.
Clint: There are some things a suit like you won’t ever understand. Like trust, trust in battle. Trust when the chips are down. The kind of trust that lets you put your life in another person’s hands. A person like Natasha.

Natasha’s tracked tag is starting to sound a lot like Evil Bald Dude. Don’t be Evil Bald Dude.

Captain America

Hey everyone, just a quick PSA about a new tumblr that I came across that really disgusts me. The tumblr username is fuckfreedomf*ggot (censorship mine) and the entire premise of the blog is more or less bashing Captain America and Chris Evans. I urge everyone to block this username and avoid all confrontation with this person. Why block them? It’s not the Cap/Chris Evans bashing (which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion). It’s because this person constantly uses homophobic slurs and uses being gay as an insult.

I’ve never been a real active participant in social justice, but it’s this kind of idiocy that is preventing all human beings from being afforded the same rights and privileges, regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, and race. It’s absolutely disgusting that a page like this even exists. So please, like I’ve said before, block this tumblr page and refrain from giving this person any kind of attention. We don’t need to add fuel to this idiot’s fire.

Kinda peripherally interested in learning more about Bucky Barnes

experimentalmadness:

I’m not really into the majority of the Marvel U. I learn just enough about other characters to get by during major crossover events where tons of characters I don’t care about are everywhere.

But lately I’ve been exploring the Marvel U more and more to go from just X-Men to exploring Journey into Mystery and I’ve been slightly charmed by Bucky since the Captain America movie. I think he looks like a cool character and I know from wikis that he has a pretty kick ass character arc.

Any comic or volume collection suggestions you could throw at me so I can learn more about him? He seems like a character I could really grow to like.

More Bucky you say? I’m sure I can help you there!

  • Captain America vol. 5 (#1-50, #600-619)- Ed Brubaker executed one of the best death retcons of all time when he brought back Bucky, and Captain America vol. 5 is where it starts.
  • Captain America and Bucky #620-628- when Captain America vol. 6 was started, vol. 5 was renamed to Captain America and Bucky and carried on the old numbering.  Over these 9 issues, Bucky’s WWII history and a very quick version of his history as the Winter Soldier was covered. A story involving Fred Davis, the second Bucky, was also included.
  • Winter Soldier: Winter Kills- Bucky contemplates his actions as the Winter Soldier and tries to figure out his place in the 21st century. Then he teams up with the Young Avengers and kicks some Hydra butt. ‘Nuff said!
  • Captain America: Forever Allies- a miniseries that has Bucky Cap fighting an old foe from back when he was still a part of the Young Allies, and mixes flashbacks of his WWII days with a current story.
  • Fear Itself: Captain America #7.1- this wraps up the events of Fear Itself and details how Bucky stopped being Captain America and became the Winter Soldier again. Which leads to…
  • Winter Soldier- this current series has Bucky working black ops to help atone for his actions as a brainwashed Soviet assassin. Lots of action, great art, great story. An absolute MUST READ.

SPECIFIC READING: Captain America #11 and Captain America and Bucky #624- these two issues give a pretty good overview about Bucky’s time as the brainwashed Winter Soldier.

I may have missed a few things, but all in all I feel like this is a good list (sorry if it got confusing at times. Things will clear up as you read more and more!). As always, if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to add to the list.

Happy reading!
